Restaurant & Bar Design Awards winners unveiled

Wolfgang Puck's restaurant CUT 45 Park Lane restaurant and restaurant chain PizzaExpress were among the winners in the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards, held at the RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects).

The awards, which were attended by more than 400 of the UK and world's most influential designers and hospitality operators, saw overall winner A Cantina by Estudio Nomada, Spain, pick up an award for Best Restaurant, while the award for Best Bar went to Graffiti by Mode, in Bulgaria.

The awards were hosted by Leslie Brissett and Peter Boizot (founder of PizzaExpress), with winners announced by Ceri Richmond of Core and Tim French MBE of The French Group.

RIBA Venues catering team Ampersand served a selection of 1930s-inspired canapés to guests during the course of the evening. These included "Black velvet, beef and oyster" - a lightly pickled Colchester oyster wrapped in Hereford beef carpaccio, oyster jelly, and samphire and for dessert mini "Floating islands" - glazed meringue, caramel sauce, pink almond praline, spun sugar.

Shaker provided art-deco cocktails and ritual serves, merging modern molecular mixology techniques with the simplicity of the 1920s.
