Réunion des Gastronomes 2018 open for entries

The 2018 Réunion des Gastronomes Award is now open for entries, the second year of the competition.

The award, designed to identify and encourage excellence in professional food and beverage services, offers the winner four two-day (or two four-day) stages across a range of sectors, invitations to attend up to five Gastronome events within a one-year period, mentoring by Gastronome members throughout the year and associate membership of the Réunion for up to four years.

Serge Pradier president of the Réunion, said: "We believe it to be worth in excess of £3,000 in prize values alone, but the mentoring and potential career enhancement offered are priceless."

Raul Martinez, restaurant manager of the Arts Club in London's Mayfair, won the inaugural competition last year and is due to undertake stages at the Dorchester and 45 Park Lane hotels in London.

He said: "It has been an honour to meet such an array of interesting people from our industry during the whole process. I'm so proud to be the first winner of this competition, as it acknowledges the Trojan efforts of the people in hospitality."

The competition is open to entrants of any age, providing they are in full-time employment in the industry at a supervisory level or above. Closing date for applications is Friday 6 April 2018 and full details are on the website.
