Richard and Lindsey Johns leave their Yorkshire pub
Richard and Lindsey Johns, the former owners of the award-winning Artisan restaurant, are to leave their Yorkshire pub, the Falcon Inn.
The husband-and-wife team took on a free-of-tie lease on the Falcon Inn in the East Yorkshire village of Withernwick, around 10 miles east of Beverley in 2014.
Previously they ran the 16-cover Artisan in Hessle in East Yorkshire, which opened in December 2004. In that time it won several awards including being voted Best Restaurant 2010 in the Yorkshire Tourism awards, and Good Food Guide Restaurant of the Year for the North East of England in 2011.
Richard Johns told The Caterer: "Lindsey and I have decided to wrap things up here at the Falcon Inn. After 18 months of extremely hard work, stress and circumstances out of our control, we feel we cannot take the Inn any further. We certainly moved out of our comfort zone being here and gave it our best shot."
"We can certainly leave proud in the fact the things we have achieved here in short space of time and turning around an unknown pub in an unknown village."
The last service at the Falcon Inn will be on 2 April.
The pair now hope to move on to an as-yet-unannounced new project.
