Richard Caring's Grillshack to open on 4 September
Richard Caring's new venture Grillshack is set to open in London's Soho on 4 September.
Grillshack is a quick all-day counter service grill which will offer eat-in and take-out food all day, seven days a week.
Most dishes will be prepared on the grill in the open kitchen.
The restaurant, at 61-63 Beak Street, is funded by Caring. The directors of the new venture are Mark Askew, former right-hand man to Gordon Ramsay in his role as executive head chef of Gordon Ramsay Holdings, and Hannah Bass, previously UK director of operations for Hakkasan, and operations director of gastropub/restaurant group ETM.
Breakfast items include: grilled sourdough with scrambled eggs and maple bacon; buttermilk apple pancakes with syrup; and full English breakfast with fried eggs.
The main menu is available from 1130am until close each day and offers dishes including: grilled rump steak with shoestring fries and smoked butter; a 100% British beef burger (with single or double patties with optional Monterey Jack and bacon); and a grilled half chicken and halloumi with green leaves, quinoa and beetroot.
The restaurant will also serve its own Grillshack lager, created by Brewers & Union, and a selection of wines on tap.
Aside from ordering at the counter, customers will also be able to use touchscreen order points for self-order and payment, and a Grillshack app for ordering and payment at the table via tablet, with software installed by Call Systems Technology linking everything to the kitchen. The ordering system is believed to be the first of its kind in the UK.
