Roadchef opens first motorway drive-thru Costa
Motorway service area operator Roadchef has opened the UK'S first motorway drive-thru Costa at its Rownhams East site.
The development on the M27, between junctions 3 and 4, joins outlets including an eat-in Costa, McDonald's, Fresh Food Café and WHSmith.
In addition to coffee the Costa drive-thru will offer a range of sandwiches, cakes and snacks.
Klara Rohel, Costa's reigning global Barista of the Year champion and Roadchef employee, is responsible for the training programme for staff at the new site.
Simon Turl, CEO of Roadchef, said: "We are very excited to extend our partnership with Costa Coffee and are confident the first motorway drive-thru will prove a valuable addition to our business.
"The unit looks fantastic and has excellent visibility from the M27, ensuring drivers can make a quick stop-off and enjoy a delicious Costa coffee while taking a break from their journeys."
Roadchef employs more than 3,600 people in the UK, across its 31 locations and attracts more than 50 million motorway customers each year, serving around five million coffees.
The company recently secured the Investors in People Gold award for its commitment to the development and training of its employees.
Costa has 1,500 stores in the UK and opened around 160 stores in the country last year.
It introduced its very first UK drive-thru site at Nottingham's Castle Marina retail park in 2011.
