Roth bar and grill opens at Hauser and Wirth gallery

Gallery and arts centre Hauser & Wirth Somerset in Bruton has opened an on site restaurant, Roth bar and grill.

The 70-cover restaurant, featuring a bar created from scavenged materials, will be operated by local hotelier and restaurateur Catherine Butler of At the Chapel in Bruton.

Head chef Steven Horrell will lead a team serving local British produce, with dishes including Roundhill Farm Devon red fillet on the bone, bone marrow and horseradish, and River Exe mussels in Somerset cider. The restaurant will also serve local artisanal beers and cocktails.

The bar at the restaurant has been inspired by the farm on which the gallery is located. Björn and Oddur Roth, son and grandson of artist Dieter Roth, have created it using a mix of agricultural and found objects collected on site and from the area surrounding Bruton.
