Runaway diners settle bill with restaurant

A group of runaway diners, who racked up a bill of more than £500 before making off without paying, have agreed to settle their debt.

The four guests enjoyed a lavish meal at Milsoms restaurant in Dedham, Essex, including two bottles of Dom Perignon champagne as well as oysters, scallops and filet steak.

But when it came to settling the bill, the group of three men and one woman tricked staff and left without paying. Three of them made a dash for the car, while the fourth person insisted he would pay the bill but instead ran off to his accomplices who were waiting in the car outside.

However, the group has now come forward and agreed to pay their bill, after owner Paul Milsom released CCTV footage of them.

Essex Police said no arrests had been made, but inquiries were continuing.
