Russell Norman and Richard Beatty to open Spuntino in Bristol

The opening of Bristol Cargo 2 shipping container development in Wapping Wharf will see the launch of Russell Norman and Richard Beatty's second Spuntino restaurant.

The 27-cover restaurant follows the success of the duo's first restaurant in London's Soho.

The new site, set to open in spring, will have a different atmosphere, with an interior inspired by roadside diners of 1950s America. It will have space for 26 diners outside on an elevated terrace with views of the harbour.

Spuntino, meaning "snack" in Italian, will offer small plates of Italian-influenced New York cuisine including: the Marla Singer burger (named after a character from Fight Club); Spuntino's signature truffle egg toast; lobster mac ‘n' cheese; Bismarck pancake with fried buttermilk chicken and maple syrup; and snacks such as sesame eggplant chips with fennel yogurt; and homemade pickles.

Cocktails will range from classics such as the Old Fashioned and Jerry Thomas Manhattan, to the Sazerac which will be served in chilled silver Garrard goblets.

Co-owner, Russell Norman said: "Wapping Wharf is just fantastic, isn't it? So vibrant and exciting. It's imaginative, intelligent urban regeneration with a completely sympathetic connection to the traditions and history of its location. It's also beautiful. We feel very fortunate to be part of the Cargo development and even though it has taken us 6 years to find the right location for our second Spuntino, we are so happy that it's going to be here in Bristol."

Beatty and Norman's other restaurants include, Polpo Beak Street, Polpo Covent Garden, Polpo Smithfield, Polpo Ape & Bird, Polpo Notting Hill, Polpo Chelsea, Polpo Brighton, and Polpo Bristol and Polpetto in Soho, London.

Spuntino Soho was the third restaurant from the duo and opened in March 2011 on Rupert Street.
