Sam Ashton-Booth to leave head chef role at Mark Jarvis restaurant Stem

Sam Ashton-Booth is to leave Mark Jarvis' Stem in London's Mayfair at the end of the week.

The chef ( pictured, left) was part of the team for the launch of the restaurant almost exactly a year ago - running his first service on 1 May 2018 - having previously worked for Jarvis at Anglo in Farringdon. The circumstances around his departure are unclear, and the chef is yet to announce what his next step to be.

The departure is the second senior staff member to leave Stem following the departure of restaurant manager Emma Underwood, who left to launch Darby's by Robin Gill as the site's general manager.

Ashton-Booth, who previously served as head chef of Tom Sellers' Restaurant Story as well as working under Michael Caines for three years, wrote on Instagram: "This is my last week at Stem.

"I am so proud of everything we have achieved here, and would like to thank all the suppliers, staff and guests for the last twelve months. I have been blessed with the most incredible team of hard working chefs, and couldn't have done it without them. Massive respect."

The Caterer has reached out to representatives for Stem for comment.
