Sam Harrison's new restaurant to open in summer with Rowley Leigh on board

Sam Harrison's new Hammersmith restaurant will open this summer following the appointment of chefs Rowley Leigh and Harvey Trollope.

Leigh (pictured left) has been appointed culinary director of Sam's Riverside and is collaborating with Harrison (centre) on menus, sourcing and recruitment.

The esteemed chef worked at the Roux family's Le Gavroche and Le Poulbot in the 1970s and 1980s before opening Kensington Place in 1987. The Notting Hill restaurant was an instant success and was attributed with helping to kickstart the renaissance of London dining. Leigh left the business in 2006 and went on to open Le Café Anglais in Bayswater, which was sold in 2014.

Trollope (right), formerly of the Ritz restaurant and Marco Pierre White's Wheeler's of St James's, joins as head chef.

The 90-cover, all-day brasserie, with private dining room and outdoor seating, will overlook the Thames and serve Anglo-French dishes, with inspiration from Leigh's repertoire.

DesignLSM will be behind the "informal but glamorous" look of the restaurant.
