Saracens rugby players back Porky's BBQ crowdfunding

Two Saracens rugby players and founders of Wildman Craft Lager are backing the Porky's BBQ crowdfunding campaign.

Alistair Hargreaves and Chris Wyles have made an undisclosed investment in the barbecue restaurant business, and will be the brand's new drinks partners. All five Porky's BBQ restaurants will be adding Wildman's Wolfpack lager to their taps in the coming weeks.

The company hopes to raise £650,000 through Crowdcube

A spokesperson for Porky's BBQ said as long as small investments keep coming and ongoing talks with bigger investors are successful, it is positive it will hit its target.

Simon Brigg, owner of Porky's BBQ, said: "We caught up with the boys at Wildman Craft Lager recently and managed to taste their brew - it was an instant winner. Naturally we mentioned our exciting Crowdcube raise to them and they were keen to jump on board. Having them as both business and beer partners will be great for future events and collaborations."

Wyles said: "Beer and BBQ have always been a perfect match. I personally love BBQ and knew of the Porky's restaurants in London. They have a great opportunity reach their target on Crowdcube, but they need investors of all sizes to come on board. We were sold from the start but we'd love people to join us."
