Scott Hallsworth to open a second Kurobuta

Chef-restaurateur Scott Hallsworth is to open a second Kurobuta, this time at 17-20 Kendal Street in London.

News of the site first emerged late last year following the successful launch of the original Kurobuta, a Japanese-style izakaya that started as a pop-up at 251 King's Road and has now become a permanent fixture.

The new site will open officially on 23 April. It will offer fresh sushi, such as soft shell crab tempura maki with kimchee mayo, as well as snacks, salads and sashimi.

There will also be a robata grill offering dishes such as barbecue pork belly in steamed buns. Morning tea will be served from 9am with a unique selection of East-meets-West pastries.

The new site will be designed by Salon Edesia and will have a similar look to the original Kurobuta, with rock 'n' roll tunes, wooden tables for up to 60 diners and a separate bar area. An outdoor space will be able to cater for up to 20.
