London's Scott's restaurant has finally been sold nearly a year after closing. The landmark eaterie was this week bought for an undisclosed sum by fashion retailer Richard Caring, the man who recently bought Signature Restaurants for £21m. The Mayfair restaurant will now join Signature's celebrity stable which includes The Ivy, The Caprice and Daphne's. The former fish restaurant was officially put on the market by owners Berkeley Adam last August for around £2.7m. It is understood the price had dropped considerably since then. A string of high-profile restaurateurs including Marlon Abela's MARC group and Marco Pierre White's partner Jimmy Lahoud are thought to have considered the site. Signature Restaurants declined to comment on the deal as did property agents Shelley Sandzer who negotiated the sale.
