Shaun Rankin opens deli next to Ormer restaurant
Chef Shaun Rankin's SR Holdings is set to open the doors of a new deli, next to his Michelin-starred Ormer restaurant on Jersey, before Christmas.
The Don Street Deli in St Helier will offer fresh products not available elsewhere on Jersey, as well as providing alternatives for the St Helier breakfast and lunch trade.
The delicatessen will feature speciality meats, hand-made condiments and cheeses that have been personally sourced by Shaun Rankin from smallholders and artisan producers around Europe.
Items from the deli will be available to enjoy from Ormer's heated al fresco area and Ormer's specialist wines, sourced directly from private vineyards, available to deli customers.
A wood fired oven will take centre stage in the deli cooking hand-made breads such as olive ciabatta and rosemary focaccia.
The business will also provide catering to the corporate market with a boardroom service of fresh sandwiches, pastries and hot and cold offerings produced under the SR quality stamp. There is also a supper service where customers can order home-made dishes, such as Shaun Rankin's Fish Pie with Roasted Leeks & Montgomery Cheddar Cheese Creamed Potato, to take home.
Rankin said: "Don Street Deli is all about gourmet ingredients that can be hard to find for the general consumer. We will be stocking an array of artisan shopping items from the best extra virgin olive oils, to luxurious pressed terrines, and delicious Italian sweet treats. I have also brought on board a number of quality local suppliers to provide fresh produce. It is important to me that I am able to invest further in the Island and build up a brand here that I am very proud of; I hope you all love the deli as much as I do."
