Sheffield's Meadowhall food court to undergo £7m transformation
The Oasis Food Court at Sheffield's Meadowhall shopping centre is undergoing a £7m transformation.
Work has begun to create the new 61,000sq ft dining area, due to be completed by October.
There will be a formal 34,000sq ft dining hall on the upper level and a 27,000sq ft lower level featuring three new kiosks and a mezzanine.
Five new restaurants will be opening, including Giraffe, which is taking a 3,433sq ft unit.
This follows the success of other new restaurants that opened at Meadowhall in 2010, including TGI Friday's, Wagamama and Café Rouge.
Giraffe chief executive Russell Joffe said: "The choice of location for any new restaurant is very important for us and we feel Meadowhall works for our brand across all levels, from the customer to location."
Clare Juniper, asset manager for Meadowhall, added: "We are very excited to see how our guests will respond."
