Six new entries to Waitrose Good Food Guide top 50 restaurants

There were six new entries into the Waitrose Good Food Guide‘s list of its top 50 restaurants in its new 2014 edition.

Simon Rogan, whose restaurant L'Enclume knocked Heston Blumenthal's the Fat Duck off the top spot, also saw his new restaurant The French, in Manchester's Midland hotel enter the top 50 with a score of 8/10, and pick up the Best New Entry award.

Other new entrants to the top 50 were:

• Hélène Darroze at the Connaught, London

• Freemasons at Wiswell, Lancashire

• OX, Belfast

• The Red Lion, East Chisenbury (also Pub of the Year)

• The Clove Club, London

The six restaurants to leave the top 50 were:

  • Adam Simmonds at Danesfield House (Simmonds is set to leave in October)
  • Robert Thompson at the Hambrough on the Isle of Wight (Thompson has already left)
  • The Crown at Whitebrook (change of chef/management, now run by Chris Harrod)
  • Bohemia, Jersey (change of chef, Steve Smith has replaced Shaun Rankin)
  • The Creel, Orkney
  • Galvin La Chapelle, London
