Soho House Group to open second Pizza East restaurant in West London
Soho House Group is expanding its popular Pizza East restaurant concept, with the launch of a second site in Notting Hill in the spring.
The new restaurant, which will open in May, will be housed in the site formerly occupied by the Fat Badger pub on Portobello Road. The interior will reflect the building's history as a pub featuring an open kitchen with stone pizza ovens as well as dark wooden panels, vintage lighting and wooden seating. There will also be a terrace offering outdoor seating in the warmer months.
Pizza East Portobello will offer a similar menu to the original Pizza East, which opened on Shoreditch in 2009, with all pizzas served on a 10-inch ciabatta base. There will also be a range of new pizzas such as Portobello mushroom, tomato, shallot and egg; and courgette, tomato, tallegio and majoram; as well as new chargrilled dishes including monkfish and pancetta; and lamb cutlets.
Pizza East first launched in October 2009 in a former bacchanalian nightclub on Shoreditch High Street. Drawing inspiration from Los Angeles favourite Mozza Pizzeria - and its devout commitment to produce - the concept is based around thick, chewy ciabatta pizzas with carefully thought-through toppings.
