Soho House to open third Pizza East and launch new concept Chicken Shop
Soho House Group is expanding its Pizza East restaurant brand and launching a new concept called Chicken Shop.
The group will launch a third Pizza East site in the Highgate Studios building in Kentish Town, north London, in September. In the basement will be the first Chicken Shop, serving rotisserie chicken.
The 40-seat Chicken Shop will serve free-range chickens from Banham's farm in Norfolk, which will be available quartered, halved or whole. Side dishes will include triple-cooked chips, creamy coleslaw, corn on the cob and salad. Takeaway will also be available.
The chickens will be marinated overnight and then steamed to lock in flavour and to keep the meat succulent. Just before serving, the whole chickens will be grilled in the rotisserie over charcoal and wood.
Nick Jones, CEO and founder of Soho House Group, commented: "I've been thinking about this for a long time, chicken would be my last meal and so I wanted to get it exactly right. The best chicken is the one you cook at home. We've tried to recreate that, but affordably."
Interiors at Chicken Shop will be inspired by 1950s American general stores, with a separate entrance on the side of Pizza East.
Pizza East first launched in October 2009 on Shoreditch High Street, with a second site opening in Notting Hill last year. Drawing inspiration from Los Angeles favourite Mozza Pizzeria - and its devout commitment to produce - the concept is based around thick, chewy ciabatta pizzas with carefully thought-through toppings.
