Southampton Boathouse Bar sold to Worcester trio

The Boathouse Bar and Brasserie, which overlooks Hythe Marina on Southampton Water in Hampshire, has been sold through the Winchester office of Christie + Co.

It sold for close to the £225,000 asked for the remaining 29 years of the free-of-tie lease.

The property on the edge of the New Forest, which was owned by Seaward Leisure for nearly six years, splits its trade equally between food and drinks sales.

It comprises a two-level restaurant that can seat 80 customers inside and another 40 outside. It also has a large bar and three-bedroom owners' accommodation.

The new owners are Gordon, Christine and Timothy Steadman from Worcester. Timothy, who ran his own pub in Oxford before working for a licensed drinks company, will run the restaurant which will trade as the Salt Bar and Kitchen from 1 December.
