Spitalfields debut for Manicomio team

The team behind the two Manicomio restaurants in Chelsea and the City are to open a third restaurant in London.

Canto Corvino, a 140-seat modern Italian restaurant and bar, will open in Artillery Lane, Spitalfields, this autumn.

Head chef Tom Salt will be in charge of the all-day, open-plan kitchen, which will serve breakfast through dinner seven days a week. Michael Mayhew will oversee front of house.

The menu is divided into seven sections. It begins with suzzichini, or nibbles, such as Portland crab aranci. This is followed by cured meats in the salumi section and raw plates such as Hereford beef carpaccio, fermented kohlrabi, reggiano and hazelnuts. Pasta/zuppa dishes will include blood sausage gnudi Amatriciana. Then there is Al forno, including hake with lardo, anchovies and rosemary; Josper to include sharing dishes such as vealspeidino with Roman artichokes, pancetta and marsala; and finally dolci, with macadamia & fig tart with lime crème fraiche alongside traditional desserts, such as tiramisu.

An all-day brunch at weekends will include hot-smoked salmon bagels with burrata and avocado. A feasting menu in the 20-seat private dining room will include classics such as ossobuco Milanese.

A spokesperson said prices have yet to be confirmed, but the average spend for dinner is expected to be £45 a head.

The sleek industrial interior has been created by B3 Designers, who have masterminded the décor at restaurants such as Roka, Gymkhana, Lima and Bubbledogs.
