Steve and Claire Love decide to stay put in Birmingham

Steve and Claire Love have taken their Birmingham restaurant off the market.

The couple have insisted that they are staying put after reports in the local media suggested they were selling their business on Canal Square to relocate to the Cotswolds or Stratford-upon-Avon.

Chef-patron Steve Love said that as part of a timely review of the business approaching three years, the couple had instructed property agents Christie & Co to offer the restaurant on the open market.

"This unfortunately gained rather more publicity than we had intended - with all sorts of unfounded speculation running off the back of that," he said.

Claire Love added that after looking at the options available the couple decided not to pursue a sale: "Sometimes you don't know what you have got till you have had a good look at the alternatives."

She added: "And our decision has been supported by the reaction we had from our regular customers, not just the weekend clientele, but also our midweek regulars."

Love, a former Roux Scholar and National Chef of the Year winner, opened Loves Restaurant in 2009. The restaurant will close in April over the Easter weekend for a minor four-day refurbishment.
