Steve and Serina Drake acquire share in Ripley pub

Michelin-starred chef Steve Drake, and his wife Serina, have acquired a 50% stake in the freehold of the Anchor pub in Ripley, Surrey.

The pair have entered into a business partnership with Chris and Lisanne Mealing, who operate a local financial advice firm, to run the 3,000 sq ft, Grade-II listed pub, parts of which date back to the 16th century.

Steve Drake will not be at the stove at the Anchor but he will be creating the menus in conjunction with Mike Wall-Palmer, his head chef at Drake's, who will be moving across to take charge of the pub kitchen.

Serina Drake will be overseeing the day-to-day management of the pub, but it will have a separate management team.

The building will undergo a simple refurbishment and should be open within the next month.

It also offers on site staff accommodation that can be used by both businesses.
