TGI Friday's to open site in Friars Walk development, Newport
American-style restaurant group TGI Friday's is to open a new site in Newport, South Wales, in November.
The operator will be the tenth restaurant company to sign up to the new Friars Walk development in Usk Plaza. It will be TGI's third restaurant in South Wales, in addition to two sites in Cardiff.
Other casual dining brands already set for the 390,000 sq ft retail and leisure space include Prezzo, Le Bistrot Pierre, Nando's, Las Iguanas, GBK, and Loungers.
Friars Walk, which will also comprise 32 shop units, an eight-screen cinema, and a new bus station, and has been designed to fit within Newport's existing retail and leisure area.
David Carroll, property director, TGI Friday's UK, said the company was delighted to be bringing the brand to Newport.
Stuart Harris, commercial director and co-founder of Queensbury Real Estate, which has developed the Friars Walk space in partnership with the local council, said: "TGI's is another great brand to add to our mix of restaurant options, we now truly have something to suit all tastes."
Having announced a big expansion drive in 2013, TGI Friday's has recently opened a host of sites within shopping centre-style complexes, including at the Silverburn centre in Glasgow, and the MK1 Leisure Park in Milton Keynes.
It operates almost 70 sites across the UK, with a menu that includes burgers, ribs, steaks, fajitas, salads and hot sandwiches, plus a wide selection of cocktails, mocktails, beers and soft drinks.
