The Helmsley Group to open multimillion-pound restaurant in York

Property development and investment company, The Helmsley Group, has revealed plans for a multi-million pound riverside restaurant in York.

The £1.5m project will renovate, extend and convert the 1836 engine house, around Lendal Tower, to a 4,000sq ft upmarket restaurant and two apartments.

The Group acquired the Lendal Tower complex in 2003, and has already converted Lendal Tower and Lendal Hill House into three separate dwellings.

Ian McAndrew, associate director at Helmsley, said: "This will be the final piece in the regeneration jigsaw that will enhance an under utilised area of the city."

Recent Helmsley projects include the transformation of 3-5 Blake Street into modern shops and residential townhouses, and York's former probate office into four luxury apartments.
