The Markets Group opens 'peep show' restaurant in London's Crystal Palace – PHOTOS
The Markets Group has opened the first of two new London restaurants in Crystal Palace, SE19, with a second expected to open on King's Road, Chelsea, later this year.
The Crystal Palace Market is a 76-cover restaurant as well as butcher and fishmonger.
The group's founders Anatoly Parkhomchuk and Sergey Men opened the 6,348 sq ft site on Church Road this week, in a space previously occupied by Chinese restaurant group Noodle Time.
The launch followed months of refurbishment, with the transformation process dubbed a "peep show", designed to create local interest. The windows were almost completely obscured allowing passers by a glimpse inside, where pop art style images gave clues as to what would soon open (see picture below).
The second site in Chelsea will see the Markets Group take over the lease the World's End pub in Chelsea, which will be refurbished to open as the World's End Market towards the end of the summer.
