The Ninth promotes Andy Hall to head chef
Andy Hall has been promoted to head chef at the Ninth just six months after chef-patron Jun Tanaka launched the Charlotte Street restaurant.
Hall has been heading the kitchen team since the restaurant's launch last November, with overseeing support from Tanaka.
The promotion marks the latest development in Hall and Tanaka's working relationship, which kicked off in 2011 when Hall worked alongside Tanaka as sous chef at Pearl. Hall then followed Tanaka and Mark Jankel to Street Kitchen in Broadgate Circle, where he was chef and manager.
Previous to working with Tanaka, Hall, who won the Craft Guild of Chefs' Graduate Award in 2006, has worked at a number of Michelin-starred and AA rosette restaurants including Arbutus, as well as at traditional restaurants in Spain and on private yachts in the Mediterranean.
The Ninth, which is at 22 Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia, London, is New York City-born Tanaka's first restaurant venture. It has 90 covers across two floors and a terrace for eight. The contemporary restaurant offers relaxed neighbourhood dining with a French-Mediterranean menu.
