Tom Kitchin to refurbish and expand the Kitchin restaurant
Chef Tom Kitchin is to refurbish and expand his Leith restaurant, the Kitchin.
The family-run Michelin star restaurant will take over the space previously occupied by next-door restaurant Chop Chop, which recently closed.
The refurbishment work and expansion will take place during The Kitchin's annual closure after Christmas, and the restaurant is set to re-open again in January 2015.
Kitchin has run the restaurant with his wife Michaela and their award-winning team on the Leith waterfront since June 2006.
Tom Kitchin said: "The new space will allow us all to grow. For me and our team in the kitchen, it will mean more space and more importantly, the dining space will be more comfortable for our guests. It's a really exciting time for us all.
"This is all about growing organically as a business and the new restaurant will allow us to continue to share our passion, while offering our guests something very special and memorable. There is a lot of history in this building and we want to keep the original charm and characteristic, while enhancing the dining experience for our guests through the additional space. Our diners have been fantastically loyal over the years and more than anything, we are doing this for them."
