Tootsies boss to launch new chain of restaurants

Andrew Bonnell, founder and managing director of the Tootsies burger chain, is launching a new group of restaurants styled on the Brackenbury in West London.

It will be headed by Lisa Inglis, former operations director at Tootsies and now director of the Brackenbury Group.

Bonnell, who is the principal investor in the Brackenbury Group but will not take an operational role, said: "We're aiming for half-a-dozen independent restaurants with the same vivid flavours and value we offer at the Brackenbury."

The group's second site is the one-Michelin-starred the Goose in Britwell Salome, Oxfordshire. It will close on 12 March for a £250,000-£500,000 refurbishment before relaunching at the end of April.

A third, undisclosed site is scheduled to open in South-west London in May.

Tootsies owner Urban Dining is looking for a buyer for the chain. Potential buyers are said to include the Clapham House Group, Regent Inns, Gondola Holdings and Giraffe Café.
