Top quick-service restaurants in 2008 – Industry data
Yum! remained the largest operator of quick-service restaurants in 2008 with 1,389 KFC and Pizza Hut outlets.
Its addition of an extra 427 stores allowed Subway to knock McDonald's from second to third position with its 1,306 outlets. The group was last year's fastest grower, when it opened 314 new branches to climb from fifth to third position.
The McDonald's estate increased by a net four outlets to 1,251.
