Tossed to open two new outlets in October including first unit outside London

Healthy fast-food operator Tossed is expanding with two new openings this autumn, including its first site outside of London.

The company, headed up by founder Vincent Mckevitt (pictured), will open a new outlet at Bankside near Tate Modern as well as a site at the Bluewater shopping centre in Kent in October. The new outlets will bring the Tossed portfolio to 10 sites in total.

Launching on 2 October, Tossed Bankside will be located directly behind Tate Modern, spread over two floors with seating for up to 75 diners. Interiors will feature the signature Tossed mural, which will take inspiration from the modern art displayed at the nearby gallery. The menu will offer the usual salads, wraps, smoothies and juices as well as a new range of Tossed Pots, with a rice or sweet potato base topped with meat or vegetables.

Meanwhile, Tossed's first out of London restaurant will open at Bluewater on 9 October located in the relaunched Wintergarden, where a total of 17 dining outlets will be based. Interiors at Tossed Bluewater will feature the feel of the outdoors, including garden fencing, while the menu will be similar to the two outlets at Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City.

Commenting on the expansion, Mckevitt said: "This is a very exciting time for Tossed. While we continue to expand on the high street, we are also strengthening our presence in high-volume retail centres. Bluewater is our first out-of-London venture, which will set the standards for our next stage of growth."

A 2009 Acorn award winner, Mckevitt researched the salad bar market in California and New York, before opening his first Tossed unit in Paddington in 2005. The company now operates eight sites across London.
