TRG and Giraffe to launch Wondertree concept at Heathrow Terminal 2
The Restaurant Group (TRG) and Giraffe have joined forces to create a new restaurant concept at Heathrow's Terminal 2, to be called Wondetree.
Wondertree will be the largest restaurant to open at the brand new terminal when it launches in June 2014.
The new restaurant concept will occupy over 5,000 sq ft with 210 covers and has been designed to take advantage of the terminal's airfield view. It will offer the choice of a self-service café and a more relaxed dining area, designed to appeal to the leisure passengers who make up 62% of the terminal's traffic.
Food will be cooked to order from an open plan kitchen which will feature freshly baked bread and "world flavoured" salads. Other dishes on offer will include stacked sandwiches, flatbread pizzas and global foods such as Los Cabos Chicken Tacos.
The design also incorporates the latest technology such as tablet menu translations, contactless payment and the potential to use device recognition mobile technology.
Nick Ayerst, managing director of TRG Concessions said: "When challenged by Heathrow to create an iconic restaurant for the new Terminal 2, we approached Russel Joffe to collaborate with us following our highly successful partnership with Giraffe in the airport. Wondertree embraces the new generation of eating and drinking and promises to provide a unique experience for Heathrow passengers."
