Turtle Bay restaurant evacuated following fire

A Turtle Bay restaurant was evacuated following a kitchen fire over the weekend.

More than 50 diners eating at the Caribbean restaurant in the Cornerhouse, Burton, had to leave after fire broke out at around 2.20pm on Saturday.

No-one was injured and the fire was described as "minor", according to the Nottingham Post.

The bar reopened later that evening but the venue was unable to serve food for the rest of the day.

Turtle Bay, which has six sites around the country, was founded in 2011 by Aj Jaya-Wickrema, who co-founded Las Iguanas. It is backed by private equity firm Piper.
