Two new appointments at Village restaurant group

Village restaurant group, formerly Village London, has appointed Etienne Bruwer as group executive chef and Ilias Patsios as head chef at the Rail House Café in Chelsea, London.

Alongside the Rail House Café, which is due to open in 2017, Village owns the Riding House Café in Fitzrovia and Village East in Bermondsey, both in London. Village London, owned by restaurateur Adam White, ‎opened in 2005, and rebranded as Village this month.

South African-born Bruwer began his career at Terence Conran's Fishmarket at the Great Eastern hotel, London. He later moved to France where he worked in Michelin-starred kitchens with chefs such as the Pourcel brothers and Pierre Gagnaire.

More recently, Bruwer was senior sous chef to Andre Garrett at Galvin at Windows, Park Lane, and group executive chef for Rhubarb Food Design, London. He will oversee the three kitchens and have a hand in creating a new dining concept at the Rail House Café.

Patsios from Greece has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants including Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester in Mayfair, Orrery in Marylebone and Rhodes 24 in Liverpool Street. He joins the Rail House Café from the Arts Club on Dover Street in Mayfair where he was senior sous chef.
