US restaurant industry rife with sexual harassment, report finds

Female restaurant industry employees in the US suffer regular sexual harassment from co-workers.

That's according to a new report released in the country on the subject, called The Glass Floor.

The report found that 74% of women in the industry experienced sexual harassment from co-workers at least on a monthly basis, while 64% saw it on a weekly basis, compared with 58% and 52% of men respectively.

The report said that the economic insecurity of female workers was also greater because of their greater likelihood of being employed as tipped workers.

While 52% of the country's 11 million restaurant workers are women, they represent 66% of all tipped workers.
