Vegan sausage roll serves up sales boost for Greggs

The launch of Gregg's much-publicised vegan sausage roll helped to serve up a significant sales boost in the seven weeks to 16 February 2019.

Total sales were up 14.1% while like-for-like sales in company managed shops grew by 9.6%.

Greggs has said growth eased slightly in February, but the start-of-year boost is anticipated to see full-year profit before tax come in ahead of expectations.

Additional sales were predominantly driven by savoury products, including the vegan sausage roll, which is already among Greggs five bestselling items.
