Wahaca to open Fitzrovia restaurant

Mexican-style casual dining chain Wahaca is to open a new restaurant, this time in London's Fitzrovia.

Wahaca has taken a 15-year lease on the 4,710 sq ft site at 26/28 Great Portland Street. The new restaurant is expected to open in September.

It will be the 14th site for the business, co-founded by Thomasina Miers (pictured) and Mark Selby in 2007.

The deal was brokered by property agent Shelley Sandzer. Commenting on the deal, Nick Weir, joint managing partner at Shelley Sandzer, said: "This is a great new location in Fitzrovia for Wahaca, which we secured against tough competition. This new site will complement their existing presence in London, and is at the heart of one of the most in-demand locations in the capital at the moment."
