Westgate Oxford Alliance confirms five new restaurants

The Westgate Oxford Alliance has secured five new restaurants as part of its food and beverage line up at Westgate Oxford, which is due to open in October 2017.

Cinnamon Kitchen, the Breakfast Club, the Alchemist, Pizza Pilgrims and Polpo will open at the Roof Garden, the scheme's ‘kitchen-garden' eating and drinking destination.

They will join restaurants Sticks n Sushi, Comptoir Libanais, Le Pain Quotidien and Shoryu Ramen at the Westgate Oxford.

The shopping centre is being developed by the Westgate Oxford Alliance, a joint venture between Land Securities and the Crown Estate, and will sit alongside the Curzon Cinema.

Restaurants have been secured though leisure property agents Davis Coffer Lyons and are all between 3,000 and 5,000 sq ft.

John Lewis will also open a 140,000 sq ft store which is expected to have a rooftop restaurant of its own.

Tracey Mills, executive director of development leasing at Davis Coffer Lyons, said: "Demand has been fantastic for the 12 rooftop restaurants, which will offer diners a panoramic view of the city centre and beyond. We are in active, advanced negotiations for the remaining three units."

Vivek Singh, executive chef at Cinnamon Kitchen, added: "We are delighted to be opening the second Cinnamon Kitchen in Oxford, our first restaurant outside of London. Oxford is one of my favourite places in the UK, a beautiful city so rich in culture with such a diverse range of residents, businesses, students and tourists.

"The Westgate development will bring even more culture, along with shopping, eating, drinking, art and experiences to the heart of Oxford, and we are proud to have partnered with Land Securities and the Crown Estate on such an exciting, eco-friendly project.

"I hope Oxford enjoys our buzzy all-day modern Indian restaurant with great cocktails, beautiful design and a unique Indian inspired garden."

Westgate Oxford will house more than 25 restaurants and cafés and more than 100 retailers.
