Wham Bam Tikka opens first permanent site at WestQuay
Indian street food brand Wham Bam Tikka has opened its first permanent kiosk site at WestQuay shopping centre in Southampton.
Part of the Taste of India catering company run by brothers Ken and Himat Bhakar, the 130 sq ft kiosk opened at the end of February. Its menu offers a selection of wraps, salads, and curries, plus hot and cold drinks.
The brand first launched as a street food van five years ago at Glastonbury Festival, and this is its first permanent location. The group has also operated vans at festivals such as Park Life, Field Day, and at events such as the British Formula 1 Grand Prix at Silverstone race track.
Commenting on the Wham Bam Tikka opening, Sarah Fox, head of restaurants and leisure at Hammerson, which owns the centre, said: "Wham Bam Tikka is a new and exciting local business that we are delighted to welcome to WestQuay. Brands like this keep the dining offer fresh."
The overall mixed-use leisure complex is expected to be completed in autumn 2016, and contains more than 100 shop units, plus a dining level.
