Yakitoria, London

15 December 2005

Russian company Vesta-Centre International breaks into London with the opening of a Japanese restaurant in Paddington. A sister restaurant to its Japan-inspired dining concepts in Russia, Yakitoria prides itself on fusing Japanese classics with Western-influenced ingredients.

  • Opened: 1 December

  • Owner: Vesta-Centre International

  • Head chef: Alexander Kuzmin

  • General manager: Mark Plant

  • Capacity: 220

  • Food: Consultant chef Tom Kurokawa is one of only a few chefs to hold a licence to prepare the poisonous fugu or puffer fish - but the food at Yakitoria is a lot less lethal. Try Saikyo foie gras nigiri for something different

  • Prices: Lunch £15-£25, dinner about £40

  • Address: 25 Sheldon Square, London W2 6EY

  • Telephone: 020 3214 3000
