Yo! Sushi to offer free meals in Facebook Deals launch
Yo! Sushi is to offer free meals to the first 1,000 diners who "check-in" under the new Facebook Deals system launched in the UK today.
Facebook Deals is part of the Facebook Places application, which allows mobile users to alert their friends to their location by "checking in" to a variety of different venues. Facebook Deals allows businesses to provide users with special offers and discounts as a reward for checking-in.
Yo! Sushi's first Facebook Deal will see it give away 2,000 meals to the value of £60,000. The first 1,000 diners to check-in with their mobile phone with Facebook Places at any of the 47 participating restaurants, tag their friend and show a member of staff their phone screen with the confirmation message will receive complimentary food and drink.
Commenting on the new marketing initiative, chief executive of Yo! Sushi Robin Rowland said: "Constant innovation and cutting-edge technology, in addition to great food, is at the heart of Yo! Sushi. We are always keen to work with like-minded brands, so being the only restaurant involved in the launch of Facebook Places in the UK is a real endorsement of the Yo! Sushi brand. Our customers are the most technologically savvy in our sector so this deal will really turn them on. Plus, the opportunity to potentially reach over 26 million active Facebook users in the UK is unbelievably exciting."
Coffee chain Starbucks is offering free coffee to the first 30,000 Facebook users to check in, as another of the first companies to participate in the programme, along with Argos, Alton Towers Resort, Benetton, Mazda and O2.
