Yum Brands to sell 180 outlets to franchise holders

Yum Brands, owner of KFC, is to sell 180 of its 230 company-owned and run outlets to existing franchise holders.

The company will sell the outlets in 15 separate packages, according to The Times.

Yum Brands has almost 900 KFC outlets in the UK, the majority of which are run by franchise holders.

Meanwhile, the company has also announced a change in its UK management. Chief financial officer Paula MacKenzie will take over the running of UK operators from Martin Shuker, general manager of the UK and Ireland business.

Shuker will concentrate on his role as managing director for Western Europe, comprising the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and Italy.
