Zucca restaurant to close

London restaurant Zucca is to close at the end of this year.

The restaurant on Bermondsey Street is run by former River Café chef Sam Harris. It opened in 2010 and serves a "progressive interpretation" of traditional Italian food.

News of the planned closure came to light earlier this morning. A rent increase and other changes planned by the landlord including an expansion of the internal layout of the site are thought to be behind the decision.

No-one from the restaurant was immediately available to comment on the news.

A final service for dinner at Zucca is planned for 23 December.
