The venue will open next month within a 50m-long covered pavilion
London’s Somerset House is set to launch a riverside food hall, bar and live music venue next month.
The project, which is called Setlist, is a collaboration between several pub and bar operators including Thomas Kidd (Bar Elba in London Waterloo and Luna Springs in Birmingham’s Digbeth); James Dye (Frank’s in London’s Peckham and Bambi in London Fields); Clement Ogbonnaya (Prince of Peckham and Queen of the South in London’s Norwood) and artist and Mission Kitchen co-founder Paul Smyth.
Setlist has also partnered with four female chefs who will spearhead the venue’s food offering. The Future Plate’s Opeoluwa Odutayo will showcase her Nigerian heritage through dishes such as plantain fritters with parmesan aioli and jerk chicken skewers with scotch bonnet mango chutney, while Sophie Wyburd has joined forces with regenerative flour company Wildfarmed to serve a pizette menu.
Andrea Montes Renaud and Laura Copp, the pair behind Mexican brand Masafina, will offer the likes of Baja fish taco with Mexican chilli and lime slaw, burnt garlic and habanero mayo and Mexico City nachos, while pastry chef Terri Mercieca, founder of Happy Endings, will provide soft serves and sorbets.
The music ‘setlist’ will be overseen by Ogbonnaya and include DJ nights with the likes of Cultur FM, Dankie Sounds, and Cloud X.
Writing on Instagram, Somerset House said Setlist will "be a platform for creators that represent the breadth of London’s cultural excellence across food, music and art", and that the food offering will feature "some of London’s most exciting female chefs."
The venue itself occupies a 50m-long covered pavilion that will feature artwork from Farouk Agoro, whose work is currently displayed on Brixton Bridge, as well as Gray Wielebinski, who has created a basketball-inspired installation.
The launch of Setlist on 8 May will coincide with the art gallery’s 25th anniversary.
