Rockliffe Hall sister hotel in York to undergo ‘significant’ renovation

The Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa in Helmsley, Yorkshire has unveiled plans for a extensive renovation of its 33 rooms and spa facilities as part of a wider investment programme.

The hotel, which was acquired by North-East luxury resort Rockliffe Hall in 2025, said this investment “forms part of the company’s wider vision to develop outstanding hospitality destinations in the North East of England that attract visitors from across the UK and internationally”.

The renovation programme is set to reveal a “reimagined” hotel and will comprise newly designed rooms and suites, an elevated spa experience and a refreshed dining offering.

Works will begin in September, with the renovated Feversham Arms hotel scheduled to re-open in early 2028.

Rockliffe Hall group chief operating officer Shauna Robb said: “The Feversham Arms Hotel & Verbena Spa has a history of welcoming guests from all over the world to relax, indulge and experience the famously warm Yorkshire hospitality that we are incredibly proud of, in a well-considered boutique retreat.

“This project offers an exciting opportunity to continue to offer all these elements while raising the standard of the decor and facilities. We can’t wait to welcome guests back through our doors in 2028 to experience it for themselves.”

Rockliffe Hall, which also counts the Pheasant hotel in nearby Harome in its stable of hotels, has undergone a substantial refurbishment including a new James Close-led restaurant, Atlas by James and Maria Close. The renovated hotel and resort is set to be unveiled in September.
