Rothay Manor completes first phase of £1.25m refurbishment

Rothay Manor in Ambleside, Cumbria, has completed the first phase of a £1.25m refurbishment.

The 19-bedroom property is owned by husband and wife Jamie and Jenna Shail, who took over the business in 2016.

The renovation has seen almost all rooms and suites, plus the restaurant, drawing room and Brathay Lounge, redesigned by Matt Hulme of Dynargh Design.

The renovation began in 2017 with the reimagining of the reception area and drawing room, followed by several bedrooms and the restaurant.

The next stage begins in January 2021, and will see the introduction of a new boot room complete with a doggy wash, a new orangery reception area and the transformation of a cottage in the grounds into a new block of eight bedrooms.

Double rooms are available from £200 per night, B&B or from £310 per night including a seven-course tasting menu, for two people, in the hotel's restaurant.

Head chef and 2020 Acorn Award-winner Daniel McGeorge oversees food and beverage at the hotel.
