Sam’s Kitchen Chiswick to close after two years of trading

West London restaurateur Sam Harrison is to close Sam’s Kitchen in Chiswick later this month to “fully focus” on his larger brasseries.

In a message to The Caterer, Harrison said he made the decision to close the Turnham Green Terrace restaurant “reluctantly” to manage the rate of demand at his Hammersmith and Brentford restaurants, which are continuing to attract “a large and loyal following that is growing beyond our expectations”.

He said: “My Sam’s story first started in Chiswick back in 2005. Without that incredible early support from the good folk of W4, we wouldn’t be doing any of what we are now across West London. From those early days, we have built incredible friendships and relationships. Therefore, Chiswick has always held a very special place in my heart and it always will do.

“We have greatly enjoyed having Sam’s Kitchen on Turnham Green Terrace and are very proud of the business we built there.”

The closure comes roughly two years after he launched the restaurant, which marked his sixth site at the time, taking over from Sam’s Larder, an existing retail unit owned by Harrison.

At the time of the opening, he told The Caterer of his plans to expand the lunch offering at Sam’s Kitchen Chiswick and to hold in-house supper clubs in the evening.

Sam’s Kitchen Hammersmith continues to trade as normal, offering breakfast, brunch and burgers.

Sam’s Kitchen Chiswick will close on 22 March.

Harrison recently celebrated the 20th anniversary of his restaurant group, which has grown to a portfolio of six restaurants and 130 staff in that time.

He also previously owned Sam’s Brasserie in Chiswick and Harrison’s in Balham, which opened in 2005 and 2007 respectively. Both were sold to Hawksmoor’s sister brand Foxlow in 2015.
