It follows the departure of general manager Kurt Macher
Shangri-La hotel at the Shard, London, has appointed an acting general manager following the departure of general manager Kurt Macher last week.
Jean Louis Fresta has been promoted to acting general manager, having served as the hotel’s resident manager since 2021.
He has also worked at Shangri-La outposts in Istanbul and Jeddah, and spent eight years at the Corinthia London.
Fresta replaces Macher, who was named general manager of Shangri-La London back in 2019.
Macher stepped down from the role last week and has since joined Hospitality at Costa Navarino as chief operations officer.
Fresta said of his acting general manager appointment: “A new chapter begins. I’m honoured to be stepping into the role of acting general manager at Shangri-La the Shard, London.
“It is a privilege to lead this remarkable hotel alongside such a talented and passionate team. I’m looking forward to building on everything we’ve achieved together as we continue creating exceptional experiences for our guests and shaping the next chapter.”
The Shangri-La London opened in 2014, occupying the 34th to the 52nd floors of the Shard in London’s Borough.
