Slim Chickens to open first restaurant in a Tesco Extra

Boparan Restaurant Group (BRG) is to open its first Slim Chickens restaurant inside a Tesco Extra supermarket later this month.

The 68-cover site will open on 17 August within Tesco Extra in Redditch, which is 15 miles south of Birmingham.

It will serve the brand's buttermilk-marinated chicken tenders and 14 sauces alongside freshly made salads, sandwiches, buffalo wings, wraps, waffles and sides such as mac and cheese and fried pickles.

As well as offering eat-in dining, food will be available for click and collect, takeaway, and delivery via Deliveroo, UberEats and Just Eat.

BRG already has a partnership with Sainsbury's and is to open around 30 Restaurant Hub food halls, which include its Caffe Carluccio's, Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Ed's Diner, and Slim Chickens brands, in stores nationwide this year.

Satnam Leihal, chief executive of at BRG said: "Slim Chickens is creating local communities of chicken lovers across the country and our customers tell us they want one near them. We have identified locations nationwide for the brand from which we can serve our fresh, cooked-to-order chicken and Tesco's Redditch Extra is a great place to start to support these plans".

The first UK Slim Chickens opened in 2018 in London's Marylebone and the brand has rapidly grown to 27 sites in the UK including Cardiff, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol and Birmingham, as well as multiple London locations.
