Springboard launches Hospitality Happy Hour campaign

Springboard, the charity that offers training and support for the hospitality industry, has launched a campaign encouraging people to take a selfie of their first post-lockdown bite or sip when the industry reopens on 4 July.

The charity has said the aim of its fundraiser is to encourage people to celebrate and give back to the hospitality industry.

The Hospitality Happy Hour campaign encourages people to upload their selfies on Twitter and Instagram, using the hashtag #HospitalityHappyHour, and make a donation to help support, develop and train underprivileged people who work across hospitality, leisure and tourism.

A spokesperson told The Caterer that a great way to mark a celebration in today's world was to "take a picture and share it."

"We know that people have been missing the great food and drink, the social interaction, atmosphere, fun and ease of visiting their favourite hospitality businesses. The reopening of our restaurants, pubs, bars, cafes and hotels is a celebration and many will be heading back over the next few days and months to experience the joys they give us.

"We want Hospitality Happy Hour to be a positive, feel good campaign, in the wake of the pandemic and lockdown, which has resulted in financial difficulties, permanent closures and job losses. The hospitality industry needs to be nurtured back in order to heal and grow."
