Standard hotel in London’s King’s Cross names Murray Scott as general manager

Murray Scott has been appointed general manager of the Standard hotel in London’s King’s Cross.

Scott joins the Standard from the Hoxton Holborn where he was general manager, having previously led the Hoxton Shoreditch.

He had previously held positions at NH Hotel Group, Bankside Autograph Collection, London Marriott Grosvenor Square, Park Tower Knightsbridge and Sheraton Grand Edinburgh.

Scott said: "Joining the Standard, London is an incredible opportunity and one I feel genuinely proud to be taking on. Throughout my career, I’ve always believed that the best hotels are built by great people who bring a great culture to guest experiences, and this is something The Standard, London does exceptionally well.

“The hotel has established itself as one of London’s most exciting and distinctive destinations, with an incredibly talented team and an approach to hospitality that’s both creative and authentic. I’m looking forward to working alongside the team to build on that success, and to continue delivering a culture first approach.”

The role was previously held by Mario Flanagan, who continues to work with Hyatt.

The hotel opened in 2019. It was the first opening outside of the US for the group, which was created in 1999.
